Program Outline

  1. Landscape Design  
    • Client Meetings
    • Site analysis and photography
    • Concept drawings
    • Mater Plans
  2. Landscape Installation
    • All aspects of new installation projects.
    • Work with Registered Landscape Architect.
    • Assist in landscape bed layout and site analysis.
    • Use proper bed preparation techniques.
    • Assist in nursery plant material selection and layout of plants according to design.
    • Be involved in planting, staking, fertilizing, mulching and watering.
  3. Weekly Site Maintenance
    • Work with experienced on-site maintenance crew.
    • Visit commercial and residential maintenance sites on a weekly basis.
    • Learn fundamental maintenance practices for mowing, edging, and weed control.
    • Learn how to use different pieces of equipment and various pesticides and herbicides.
    • Learn importance of proper design and installation to simplify the maintenance process
  4. Pruning (Summer Work)
    • Work with Horticulturist.
    • Learn proper pruning techniques for different plant species.
    • Work with both deciduous and evergreen materials (Plant Identification).
    • Maintain perennials, use proper deadheading and plant clean-up techniques.
  5. Seasonal Color (Month of May)
    • Learn to layout and install annual flower beds.
    • Learn the importance of soil amending, fertilizing and watering.
