Choosing & Planting those Annuals!

May 23, 2017

Remember, the best time to start planting those summer annuals is sometime after Mother’s Day when the threat of frost is gone, and ideally after the soil temperature warms up to above 60 or 70 degrees.

This year, if you are looking for a plant that does well in full sun and adds the perfect pop of color to your garden, we would suggest that you try Sunpatiens. For shade plants with more foliage color, use Impatiens or Dragon wing Begonias. These are great accents.

Another idea: If you haven’t used tropical or foliage plants before, think of them as a great addition to the color too; Dorotheanthus, Cordyline (Cabbage Palm) or Elephant Ear are all great ones to start with.
