The Ohio Green Industry Association (OGIA) welcomed nearly 173 high school students from across Ohio for the seventh annual Ohio High School Landscape Olympics (OHLO) on October 12 & 13 at OSU ATI in Wooster, Ohio.
Ohio high schools and career centers with horticulture programs were invited to participate in the Landscape Olympics, an educational competition where students could test their skills and learn more about a career in the green industry.
Students from 12 different schools competed in 15 events throughout the day on Thursday, October 13. OHLO 2022 began with a pizza party on Wednesday afternoon to welcome the students. A career exploration event with 26 companies gave students the opportunity to meet with green industry leaders and learn more about careers available to them in the industry. The event ended with an awards ceremony on Thursday afternoon.
As with past years, M.J. Design has sponsored the Surveying Instruments & Measurements competition. This year the weather was cold, windy and wet, but it prepared them for a career centered around the outdoors! We are proud of all the high school students who participated in the competition and wish them success in their future endeavors. Special congrats to Jackson High School, who won the Surveying Instruments & Measurements competition, in additional to Knox County Career Center who won the overall Landscape Olympic competition.
