Spring Seeding Update: Patience is Key

If you’ve done any seeding this spring, you may be wondering why you haven’t seen much growth yet. Don’t worry—this delay is completely normal and expected given the current conditions.
April brought us a tough combination for seed germination: cooler-than-normal temperatures, inconsistent weather patterns, and very little rainfall. May has not been much different. The last few weeks have been way below normal temperatures. Grass seed needs warmth and moisture to germinate, and unfortunately, we've had a shortage of both. The temperature swings haven’t just been hard on lawns—they’ve been hard on people, too. Many are dealing with seasonal colds and sinus issues due to these up-and-down conditions.
Successful germination depends heavily on two main factors: temperature and precipitation. Without warm soil and consistent moisture, seeds simply won't sprout. So while it may be tempting to reseed or worry that something went wrong, the best course of action right now is to be patient. Once the soil warms up and we get steadier rainfall, you’ll likely start to see the results of your spring efforts.
In the meantime, keep the soil lightly moist if you can, and hold off on any aggressive lawn treatments. Your seed is just waiting for the right moment to wake up!
