Award Received at Annual Landscape Awards Competition

Drumroll, Please! We Have Winners to Announce!

It was recently announced by The Ohio Nursery and Landscape Association that M.J. Design was one of just four companies to win an award in their 48th Annual Landscape Awards competition.

Our award was for the Use of Seasonal Color and Perennial Gardens and the project was for a client in Muirfield, who had a desire to have various colors and textures throughout their landscaping.

We have been working with them over the course of a few years to incorporate perennials and ground covers into the landscape beds. It began with a small perennial border along their side property and the landscape beds around their house.Over the years the border has tripled in size!

Part of the border is defined by evergreens to the back that screen the road. Flowering hydrangea, bottlebrush buckeyes, and ornamental grasses give larger structure to the bed. One end of the border has more shade, so we worked to adapt the design to implement more perennials with different textures and foliage colors.

The sunnier portions have plants with bigger and bolder colors. The garden has matured over the years and it is fun to tweak it a little each year, dividing and incorporating new plants.
